Buy a 1911 in 2011

I have been waiting until this year (2011) specifically to buy a 1911.  This year marks the 100th anniversary of John Moses Browning’s masterpiece and being the dutiful disciple, I will purchasing a Smith & Wesson full size E-Series with rail.

It took a good while to figure out specifically which 1911 that I wanted.  It had to be made in America, lack a firing pin safety, be full size and look good.  The new E-Series fits all these and quite well.

Now if I can only find one in stock…

I guess Trent Kimball, the President and CEO of Texas Armoring Corporation was getting his balls broken about the effectiveness of his armor.  Well he put his money where his mouth was, sacked up and sat down behind one his bullet resistant windshields and let is employee take a few shots with his AK.  While wearing flip flops.  I guess if I ever need armor for my vehicle, I know where to go.

Sig Sauer Guns have confirmation that the SIG556 (the civilian SIG550) will be made available chambered in 7.62x39mm and will be able to use standard AK-47 magazines.

We just received a phone call from our contact at Sig and Sig Sauer is producing a SIG 556 chambered in 7.62×39. This new SIG556 will have a AK-47 bolt and it will support standard AK-47 magazines. Apparently these new models are in production and will be shipping from the factory in roughly four to six weeks.
